Proposed Projects Info.
Posted on Oct 8th, 2015
The Board wanted to send a quick update and clear up any miscommunication or misunderstanding that might be in the community about two of the proposed projects for 2016.
The Board will be holding a special meeting of the Settlers Walk Community to discuss and present information regarding each of the proposed projects. During the special meeting, residents will have the opportunity to voice concerns, both positive and negative, and VOTE for or against each of the two projects. Proxy ballots will also be sent with the official meeting notice, as required, for those who cannot attend the meeting but want to make sure their voice is heard.
Proposed Project Number 1: The installation of lighting at the tennis courts at Tot Lot I
Project Description: The project would include the installation of lights, receptacles, and a timer from the existing panel at the pavilion to the shed. From the timer in the shed, electric would be run to the tennis courts and LED lights would be installed along the top pole of the fence to shine directly onto the tennis court. The lights should not illumine past the outside surface of the courts.
Estimated Cost: $9,140.00 +/-
Proposed Project Number 2: The installation of a multi-sport and multi-purpose court
Project Description: The project would include the installation of a multi-sport (tennis, hockey, basketball) and multipurpose court. The proposed location is the far rear of the multi-purpose field next to Tot Lot II by the walking trails. This would include the removal of 8-10 inches of topsoil, the installation of a 4” gravel base, 4” asphalt surface, multipurpose sport material floor covering, two basketball goals, two hockey nets, removable tennis court net, and a 10 foot fence surrounding the court.*** Important: These are proposed specifications and not to be considered final.
Estimated Cost: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00
Remember that these projects are PROPOSED and NOT final or approved.
In order for the vote to be legal, there must be a quorum, which is designated as the minimum number of people required to vote either in person or by proxy. The Settlers Walk By-Laws, Section II (h), defines a quorum as 10% of the Units, which equals the votes of 26 residents by person or proxy. The By-Laws, Section V (c) also states that any project over $5,000 must be approved by a community vote at a special meeting.
Once a Special Meeting date is established, an email and paper mailing will be sent to all residents of the community. Please do not hesitate to call us at Rj Community Management if you have any questions or concerns. Our number is (412) 527-8557.
