SPEEDING!
Updated Janaury 26, 2015
Posted March 24, 2011
Please remember that our community is full of children and adults that play and walk the community street. For their safety residents are asked to slow down on the street of Settlers Walk. If you see a car that continues to speed through the neighborhood you are urged to contact the Franklin Park Police Department to report the violator. Let’s keep the community Safe.
Franklin Park police will be holding roving patrols and setting up speed traps throughout the community to help deter speeders in the plan.
At the 2014 Annual Meeting the community discussed the purchase of 3 solar powered speed signs for the community. Each sign will have a Bluetooth adaptor that will be able to track and relay information about the vehicles that pass the sign. Those in attendance along with the Board of Directors approved the purchase of these three speed signs that will be placed within the community in high speeding areas.
Each month the signs will be moved by a volunteer on the Board.
The data collected will be used to help provide the Franklin Park PD a better picture of the problem within the community and to help aid in more frequent patrols of the community.

Dear Residents,
First, I must apologize for the huge gap in time since our last communication. Apparently, the email system was not working properly and the outgoing messages were not being received by our community. Additionally, in trying to remedy the problem, the program discarded MANY of the email addresses in our system. Therefore I am requesting your help. Please disseminate this safety alert to everyone in you know in Franklin Park. If you receive this email second hand and had been part of our email alert system, please send an email to crimeprevention@fppd.biz . Please include your family's last name and street name so that the addresses can be sorted correctly. I will work quickly to add all of the addresses back into the system and then send out a follow-up, "test" email.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and lack of communication. I hope that the problem has been remedied and appreciate your patience.
Sincerely,
Officer K. Boucek
Franklin Park Police Department

CAR BREAK-INS
ATTENTION SETTLERS WALK RESIDENTS
There have been several cars that have been broken into in our neighborhood. The cars that were targeted were left unlocked in their driveways or in the street . This happened as recent as Sunday late night or early Sunday morning. If you realize that your car was broken into please contact the Franklin Park Police Department to report the incident. The police were in the community this morning looking for evidence. It also appears that the individuals were leaving the car doors open when leaving the crime scene. If you leave your car outside please remember to remove all valuables and lock your doors at all times.

SAFETY ALERT
16 Feb 09
Dear Resident of Franklin Park
Specifically members of Scarlet Ridge and surrounding neighborhoods:
There have been numerous emails and phone calls being made about burglaries and other crimes allegedly committed last night in Franklin Park. This Safety Alert email is to provide you with correct facts about the incident without jeopardizing the ongoing investigation.
Sometime overnight, 15Feb09 into 16Feb09, an unknown number of suspects were in the area of the Scarlet Ridge plan. They appear to have attempted to gain access to a few residences by trying to find an unlocked door. There was NOT forced entry into any residence at this time. There is evidence that they opened UNLOCKED vehicles however nothing was stolen. There is evidence that they appeared to limit their path to perimeter residences and they used a vehicle to enter/exit the area.
Anyone who may have seen or heard anything that may be helpful to this investigation is asked to call our police station, 412-364-1227 and speak to Officer Latimer, ext 355.
